UPES, established in 2003 under the UPES Act, is a private university located in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. It is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and accredited with an NAAC A grade. This year, a total of 560 recruiters visited the campus across consulting, BFSI, IT/Analytics, FMCG, and e-commerce sectors. The Ministry of Education (MoE) has released the NIRF ranking 2025. As per the rankings, the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) has achieved an NIRF rank of 45 in the Research Institutions category along with an NIRF rank of 43 in the Engineering category. The institute has also achieved NIRF scores of 46.46 and 56.99 in each category respectively. - University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) is a well-known institute for providing education in many Graduate and Post Graduate courses. The campus of UPES has covered an area of 44 acres in the city of Dehradun. The Bidholi Campus is spread over an area of 30 acres while the Kandoli campus has covered an area of almost 12 acres of land. The University has a green campus spread over a built-up area of 933,000 sqft.Many classrooms are available at the campus of University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) providing a combined seating capacity to 10,0000+ Students. The smart classrooms of the college have LCD Projectors, Black/Whiteboards, Wireless Mics & Speakers, Attendance Card Reader Machines and Wi-Fi connectivity. The campus of UPES Dehradun University has a computer center consisting of advanced technologies with an internet bandwidth of 1 Gbps. All labs have software alliances with IBM, Oracle, Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, and many more. As the college focuses on updating its students with modern technologies trending in the world, Cloud Labs are available for providing education about Cloud Technology. There is a network of more than 9,000+ computers installed collectively at the campus. These systems are managed by 70 servers. The Library of UPES University contains a collection of 1,09,625+ publications and more than 100 printed and 5,443 e-journals. The library of the college provides access to the students specialized portals on Oil & Gas, and Power, and other sector-related information. Around 725 students can sit at the college library at a time for group studies or book study. An e-enabled student-teacher interaction-based Learning Management System is installed at the library of the campus. Both campuses of the university provide residential facility to more than 2000 students. Hostel rooms will be allocated to students on a first-come-first-serve basis. The college has taken care of the comfort for their students as they had installed many facilities at hostel buildings of both campuses. Residential blocks have been earmarked for limited on-campus accommodation separately for boys and girls on triple sharing basis.
